Google's flagship smartphone line, the Pixel series, is set to get a major upgrade with the upcoming release of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. With rumors and leaks circulating about the new phones, it's time to take a closer look at what we know so far about the Google Pixel 6.
Design and Display
One of the most noticeable changes in the Pixel 6 series is the new design. The phones will feature a completely different design from the previous Pixel models, with a horizontal camera bar on the back that houses multiple camera sensors. The Pixel 6 will reportedly have a 6.4-inch display, while the larger Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch display.
The displays are expected to feature high refresh rates, with rumors pointing to a 120Hz refresh rate on both phones. Additionally, the displays will use Google's own Tensor SoC (system on a chip), which is designed specifically for Pixel phones and promises improved performance and better AI capabilities.
Cameras
The camera is always a key feature in Pixel phones, and the Pixel 6 is no exception. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are expected to feature a new camera setup that includes a primary wide-angle lens, an ultrawide lens, and a telephoto lens. The cameras will reportedly be able to capture 4K video at 60fps, as well as 1080p slow-motion video at 120fps.
Additionally, the cameras will feature Google's new "Magic Eraser" tool, which will allow users to easily remove unwanted objects from photos. This feature will be powered by Google's AI and machine learning capabilities, which have always been a strong suit for the Pixel line.
Software and Features
The Pixel 6 will run on Android 12, Google's latest operating system. However, the Pixel 6 will also come with some exclusive features, such as improved voice recognition and speech-to-text capabilities. The Tensor SoC will also enable faster app load times and improved multitasking.
Another exciting feature rumored for the Pixel 6 is the inclusion of an in-display fingerprint scanner, which would be a first for the Pixel line. This would allow for easier and more secure unlocking of the phone.
Price and Release Date
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are expected to be released in the fall of 2021. As for pricing, the Pixel 6 is rumored to start at $699, while the Pixel 6 Pro will start at $999. While these prices are on the higher end, they are in line with other flagship phones on the market.
Overall, the Pixel 6 looks to be an impressive upgrade to the Pixel line. With a new design, improved cameras, and exclusive software features, the Pixel 6 may just be the future of Android.
